<p>Speed, agility, and quickness (SAQ) are the 3 intended results of using an agility ladder. For athletes and people just trying to lose weight, these should be the focus of your training. Your goal should be lighting fast reflexes and agility due to the multi-directional and rotational movements you&#8217;re teaching your body to do. There have been some incredibly difficult exercise drills created for the ladder, but regardless of the style, your main objective is to sweat like you&#8217;ve never sweated before.</p>
<p>The agility ladder focuses on 3 universal exercise routines that all the drills you learn will encompass. Steady paced runs at full speed up and down the ladder are the first type of drills. This is focused solely on cardio and speed, really get you sweating. Burst exercises are second, which mix steady jogs with intense bursts of speed and energy. This keeps the body guessing and all muscle groups engaged, while creating quicker reflexes. This also makes burst exercises great for weight loss as they are part of the high intensity interval training (HIIT) system. This is also a great way to work the entire body as the arms and core are engaged to hold the ball and maneuver it.</p>
<p>Our jump rope exercise also uses the entire body. Jump roping by itself is pretty easy, but add the ladder and you&#8217;re training your body to go precisely where it&#8217;s needed. Anyone who&#8217;s sport requires them to be right where a ball is about to be knows how difficult this is to master. You work on your hand eye coordination for years, and the ladders will help master that technique. Athletes will get the reflexes they need and people just looking to lose weight will sweat off a great deal of it.</p>
<p>Alright women, these next two &#8216;butt and thigh&#8217; exercise routines are just for you. You can bring the medicine ball back for these two exercises to work the core, which women obsess over as well. In the leg chop you can hold the ball directly over your head and lower it in time with your steps. Your goal is to lift your knees high in the air as you step and tap them with the ball. More advanced techniques involve bending at the waste and other rotational movements. You can also use the medicine ball for your next drill, lunges, but you don&#8217;t necessarily have to. Here the goal is to do your basic lunge across the entire ladder at least 5 full revolutions. This gives you a great leg stretch and firms up the glutes.</p>
